Note: CTWD directly affects amperage in constant-voltage (CV) mode. Increasing CTWD decreases amps and vice versa. This is the primary fine-tuning method for MIG/FCAW.

CTWD (Contact Tip to Work Distance) Guidelines:
GMAW Short-Circuit: 3/8" to 1/2"
GMAW Spray: 5/8" to 3/4"
FCAW-G: 3/4" to 1"
FCAW-S: 3/4" to 1-1/2"
Longer CTWD increases resistive heating, reduces amperage (CV mode)
