Note: WRC-1992 supersedes both Schaeffler and DeLong for predicting FN. It removed Si and Mn (found to be statistically insignificant for FN prediction) and added Cu. FA solidification mode provides the best resistance to hot cracking.

WRC-1992 Diagram (Kotecki & Siewert): Creq = Cr + Mo + 0.7×Nb Nieq = Ni + 35×C + 20×N + 0.25×Cu Solidification modes: A, AF, FA, F FA mode (Creq/Nieq = 1.48-1.95) is optimal for crack resistance. Valid range: Creq 17-31, Nieq 9-18, FN 0-100.
